Safety

Vulcan's goal as it pertains to safety is to provide a place of employment as free as possible from hazards. To reach this goal, an effective and continuously improving safety program was established. This program incorporates educational and monitoring procedures developed to teach safety, correct deficiencies, and provide a safe, clean, and healthy working environment. Following the guidelines of our safety program, ensures compliance with the laws and regulations of The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). We are proud to say that in 2009, Vulcan, Inc. received a Safety Award from the Alabama Self-Insured Worker's Compensation Fund to honor A Lost Time Accident Free Year." Our safety campaign "Safety Begins With Me," is the attitude that everyone adopts each day on the job.

The Environment

Even before "Going Green" became the latest fad, Vulcan had already formed a working relationship with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM). Not only are all of our industrial practices approved by ADEM and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), but many practices exceed these requirements. VUS is extremely aware of all inbound and outbound materials and their environmental impact. We evaluate every incoming item to ensure it complies with our strict health, safety and environmental regulations and monitor outbound waste streams as well. Waste is also strategically separated for disposal to appropriate areas. For example, every spent fluorescent light bulb used in our facility is placed in a secure container and properly disposed of according to HAZMAT requirements.

Vulcan Utility Signs believes that being environmentally friendly is more than a choice. We believe it is our responsibility to do our part in keeping the Gulf Coast Area a clean place to work and play.
